SB4 has passed, but with some good news!
SB4 has passed. The bill was initially designed to take public health control away from the county health departments and give it to the state. Here are the big takeaways:
- Counties will retain full control over every decision. Counties who opt in to programming do not lose their authority to decide whether or not to adopt advisory guidance they receive from the state.
- Protecting Hoosier’s right to privacy by requiring health data to be de-identified and aggregated.
- Removed language that would allow state health departments into schools. All public health outreach should be directed at parents, not children.
- Removed language that would coerce Hoosiers who are seeking public health services into participating in research without their knowledge.
We applaud Stand For Health Freedom Indiana, Hoosiers for Medical Liberty, and anyone who called or emailed their legislators for their efforts in getting revisions into this bill to make it medical freedom friendly.
