Brownstone Supper Club – January 2025

Brownstone Institute will host its inaugural Supper Club in Bloomington on January 13, 2025! The featured speaker will be Dr. Stephen Shipp, Headmaster of Seven Oaks Classical School.

Dr. Shipp will discuss the mission of Seven Oaks Classical School and explain the importance of the school’s work through the lens of Alexis de Tocqueville. Tocqueville’s nineteenth century classic, Democracy in America, has been described as “the best ever written on democracy and the best ever written on America.” Dr. Shipp will consider what Tocqueville has to say about freedom and tyranny in democratic societies, and what this means for local institutions, such as schools.

Cost: $50 per person, which includes a buffet dinner and 2 drink tickets. Space is limited.
